Kelsey Ruwe is the Chief Human Resource Officer at Carson Group, overseeing Talent, Human Resources and Corporate Communications. In nearly 15 years with the firm, Kelsey has been instrumental in hiring, training, and educating nearly 300 employees, which Carson refers to as stakeholders.
When she joined Carson in 2008, Kelsey was responsible for local events, marketing promotion, and HR. She has since risen in position, from Director of HR, Vice President of Talent and now Chief of Staff, directly alongside the Executive Board.
If you’ve driven down the Dodge expressway in Omaha recently, you may have noticed Carson’s new headquarters in the prior Boys Town west farm property. Under Kelsey’s leadership, Carson completed the $80 million-dollar, two-tower campus. She was responsible for overseeing the construction, design, and development, as well as leading the building committee and input for our firm.
Day-to-day, Kelsey focuses on Carson’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, as well as community partnerships and engagement. She facilitated Carson becoming a two-year CODE member through the Greater Omaha Chamber and a partnership with local organization, Inclusive Communities, which hosted a five-part workshop series for the firm. Kelsey also was integral in establishing Carson’s IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Education, Action) Council. The council was created to develop a shared language and understanding among stakeholders while educating and connecting them to individuals and organizations that ignite change in our company and our community. Kelsey was recognized for these efforts by Waters Technology and InvestmentNews.
Beyond Carson, Kelsey and two other industry executives founded the FinServ Foundation, a nonprofit empowering the next generation of financial professionals through coaching, mentorship, and community. The foundation partners with 19 historically black colleges and universities across the nation and forms cohorts for students looking to thrive in financial services.
Kelsey has also been recognized for her efforts in leadership, most recently by Young Nebraskans as their Leadership and Professional Development of the Year (2021). She has helped Carson earn numerous awards, including being named a Best Place to Work by InvestmentNews and a finalist for Best Firm Culture by Private Asset Management. She is regularly featured in industry publications like Financial Advisor IQ and InvestmentNews, and she is a member of the Omaha Chamber’s 44th Leadership Class.
When not chasing her three children around the house, Kelsey and her husband enjoy running, golfing and planning activities with friends and family.
